This two-week period was a quiet time at the Dunn household. Kay spent the last week of September in the Richmond, Virginia, area visiting her sister and brother-in-law, coincident with a cooling down of our recent high temperatures. Traveling by air is a challenge in this day and age. Kay was scheduled to return on September 29, a Monday, at just after 9:00 o’clock in the evening. To make a long story short, the plane our of Richmond had trouble resulting in the flight being cancelled. After much wrangling, she was able to be booked on another flight, but it was delayed significantly. Anyway, I picked her up at the Little Rock airport about 12:30 AM Tuesday morning. Needless to say, both of us were exhausted, but Kay was particularly tired.
Otherwise, I played golf when able. Let me explain. The last few months I have been short of breath and significantly fatigued, and suspect it is a medicine or combination of medicines. Regardless, both the golf and pickleball games have suffered, and I only play when I feel like it.
Despite the absence of hoards of butterflies and dragonflies, I did get out a few minutes each of five days to make photos. A few hummingbirds are still nectaring on their way south, but only offered fleeting glimpses.

And this Red-headed Woodpecker was shot from a distance of about 50 yards.

And even a Pileated Woodpecker was shot from the same tree a few days later.

And finally, the end of the month yielded a couple of butterflies, a Monarch caterpillar, and a Blue Dasher dragonfly.
